Agenda Item 5.0

Presentation Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd- 5.01
Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Vickie Nissen, and Betsy Allen from Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd, discussed the fiscal year 2017 audit of fiscal statements from CCSD59 with the board of education. The audit results found the district to have a clean, unmodified auditors’ opinion which is the highest recognition an audit could receive.

Updated (10.6.17) 2017.18 Enrollment & Demographic Report – 5.02
Associate Superintendent, Tom Luedloff, shared a presentation about enrollment and student demographics with the board of education.

Preparation of 2017 Tax Levy And Setting The Date For The Public Hearing  Discussion – 5.03
The board of education reviewed and discussed the 2017 Levy Presentation. The proposed 2017 Levy request is a 3.83% increase over the 2016 Levy. It is estimated that the actual 2017 levy extension will be a 2.25% increase over 2016. The resolution document for Preparation of the 2017 Tax Levy will be approved at a future board meeting.

Elk Grove Village Proposed Tax Increment Financing (TIF) – Rt. 72 – 5.04
Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Vickie Nissen, shared that on September 18, 2017, Elk Grove Village held a meeting regarding the proposed Rt. 72 TIF and shared information describing the scope, need and timeline of the proposed Rt. 72 TIF. To gain clarity and provide further direction, the proposed Rt. 72 TIF was discussed at the board meeting on October 10, 2017. By board consensus, it was determined that the CCSD59 board was in support of the proposed Rt. 72 TIF and would not be making a statement at the Elk Grove Village public hearing on October 24 in opposition.

ISP Clear and Present Danger Form – 5.05
Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Karen Starr, and the Director of Social Emotional Learning and Student Equity, Katie Ahsell, shared the ISP Clear and Present Danger form with the board of education. The form details the process for reporting an individual who poses a clear and present danger.

Authorization to File FY17 Annual Financial Report with ISBE  – 8.01
The board of education accepted the Annual Financial Report (AFR) as final and authorizes the filing of the AFR to the Illinois State Board of Education in accordance with 105 ILCS 5/3-7.

Approval of Donation of Computer Tablets for Use at Juliette Low and Rupley Elementary Schools, Grove and Friendship Junior High Schools, and the ELC – 8.02
The board of education accepted the donation twenty-three (23) computer tablets with an estimated value of $3,000 from Mr. Steve Koruna, Hawthorn Associates of Lake County LLC, 8 Charleston Court, Hawthorn Woods, IL 60047.

Approval of Donation of Lacrosse Equipment for Use at Holmes Junior High School – 8.03
The board of education accepted the donation of $599.01 from Donors’ Choose to be used to purchase Spanish books for the Brentwood Elementary School’s library to support dual language learners.

Approval of Donation of Badminton Equipment for Use at Holmes Junior High School – 8.04
The board of education accepted the donation of badminton equipment with a value of $995.58 from the District 59 Education Foundation.

Approval of Donation of Equipment Packs for Use at Ridge Family Learning Center- 8.05
The board of education accepted the donation of equipment packs with a value of $683.98 from the District 59 Education Foundation.

Approval of Donation of Carpet and Seat Cushions for Use at Brentwood Elementary School’s LRC
The board of education accepted the donation of a carpet and seat cushions with the value of $602.54 from Donors’ Choose.
